Why do the British press keep banging on about how the government is going to strip migrants of benefits?
The fact is that the government is planning to amend the rules on benefits for new arrivals. Whether or not this actually happens remains to be seen. There are more important things, of course, such as gay marriage. Just ask the prime minister.
Nevertheless it is dishonest and irresponsible to claim that the government will strip migrants of their benefits, because it leaves a lot of settled immigrants worrying about how they will support themselves in future if they lose their jobs.
