A Norwegian MP called Per Sandberg has caused a rumpus by arguing that large groups of French people should be banned from entering Norway on the grounds that there is too strong a likelihood that they are criminally inclined.
People should judge his remarks not on the basis of whether or not they offend anyone but rather on the basis of whether or not they are well founded in fact.
If I were a French criminal, I do not think I would travel as far as Norway to commit a crime, but I can nevertheless see the logic in going abroad. Travelling abroad to commit crimes and then returning home makes detection far less likely.
When will Britain have an MP with the guts of Mr Sandberg?
